Design Process
Initial Consultation
The first stage in designing a new website is to sit down with the client and find out exactly what is required and what the website aims to achieve. This will include: determining the number of pages needed; what text and images should be incorporated into each page; colours and perfered colourschemes.
Each page will usually have key elements that are needed such as: logo's and details of membership of professional bodies, VAT Number and Company Registration details, areas of the business that need highlighting or made prominent within a website page.
Design Ideas
The first step was to design a logo that could be used on the site and could be printed to go on stationary, business cards etc. The logo designed uses purely typographic elements, in blue and green, that would be easy to convert to traditional print mediums.
With these initial requirements in mind, a set of rough design mock-ups are produced before starting any actual web pages. From these designs, refined with the client, will form the basis of creating a first draft website. The draft website will undergo refinements and changes based on client requirements and suggestions.
Once the overall site plan had been discussed with the client, the domain registration and hosting requirements could be arranged. The Expedite Management website is hosted on Windows Servers, setup up to run Active Server Pages. All the pages for the website are standard HTML with the exception of the ASP Page required to process the contact forms.
Going Live
Finally a production website will be produced based on all the subsequent changes, incorporating the text and images for each page. Once this production website has been finished, each page will be checked, approved and signed off, this is done before moving the website to the live server.
